With head coach Mike Krzyzewski busy working with Team USA this summer, assistant coach Steve Wojciechowski has been a busy man.
Wojo has been left in charge of the Duke Blue Devils while Coach K works on molding NBA players into a cohesive unit.
So many of Coach K’s former players have become assistants under him, only to then go on and receive head coaching gigs.
Wojo said that he is simply doing the things that Coach K would be doing were he with the team.
He elected to skip both July recruiting and working with Team USA to stay home and address his wife’s health concerns and take charge of the Duke basketball program. (Read More…)

Coach K said he is staying with the Duke Blue Devils despite rumors about a possible leap to the NBA.
The New Jersey Nets, among other teams, have been kicking the tires on some of the top college coaches.
He said he never put his name in for any of the NBA jobs that he has been linked to, but he takes it as a compliment.
The coach said he was flattered by the rumors but is very happy with where he is right now at Duke.
He is coming off of a national championship with nearly his entire team returning and a very good incoming class.

The Final Four matchup between the Duke Blue Devils and West Virginia Mountaineers was all about the “Big 3.”
Jon Scheyer, Kyle Singler and Nolan Smith combined for 63 of Duke’s 78 points in a surprisingly easy 78-57 win, pushing the Blue Devils into Monday night’s national championship game, where it will face the Butler Bulldogs.
Duke hit 13 3-pointers on the night and shot a blistering 52 percent from the field in dominating a West Virginia team that had knocked off another No. 1 seed, Kentucky, in the Elite 8.
Additionally, the Blue Devils shut down Mountaineers star Da’Sean Butler, limiting him to just 10 points before he went down with a serious knee injury midway through the second half.
Duke assisted on 20 of its 29 field goals and turned the ball over only five times in the contest.

While the other favorites keep getting stunned, No. 1 Duke keeps chugging along. Tonight, the No. 4 Purdue Boilermakers try to end the Blue Devils’ season in their Sweet 16 affair.
The Blue Devils have coasted in the NCAA Tournament to this point, easily defeating Arkansas - Pine Bluff and California. Around them, both overall No. 1’s Kansas and Syracuse have already faltered, leaving just Kentucky as the only other remaining top seed.
But while favorites fall around them, Duke appears poised to advance. It gets to face a Boilermakers team that appears (on paper) to be overmatched. The Blue Devils hold a significant size advantage and a more potent offense. And with Purdue missing forward Robbie Hummel, who would have been a natural fit to guard Kyle Singler, that now looks to be another problem for Matt Painter’s team.
Still, Duke has largely underachieved in recent years, and a loss in this game would be as disappointing as any in the Coach K era, so don’t expect his squad to overlook Purdue the way Kansas might have against Northern Iowa.
